Marvin Schnitzler has been involved with the Jo Daviess County 4-H program for several decades. The Schnitzler family has a long tradition of 4-H. Marvin has supported and raised 5 children that were Jo Daviess County 4-Hers, 12 grandchildren (6 of who are alumni) that are 4-Hers, and one waiting to join! When you think of Marvin, you automatically think of the beef project. Marvin has served as our 4-H Beef Superintendent for over 35 years - including a Thursday tradition of buying pie for all of the beef exhibitors to enjoy while watching the dairy show. Marvin sponsors the Herdsman Award for beef, was instrumental in starting the 4-H Livestock Auction, served as the Swine Superintendent for 4 years, and cooks the best pork chops around during the 4-H Pork Chop BBQ. Marvin hosted the County 4-H Livestock Judging Contest for over 20 year, served on the Extension & State 4-H Foundation board, and hosted IFYE and LABO students through 4-H exchange program. Overall, Marvin's support of Jo Daviess County 4-H and our members has helped make our program what it is today.
Thank you for all you do!
